Grimes Says Her New Song Is About "Having to Defeat Azealia Banks"

"100% Tragedy" is officially a diss track

Last week, Grimes teased more new material presumably attached to her forthcoming "space opera" album. The track — "100% Tragedy" — has yet to be officially released, but we're already getting the scoop on the controversial figure involved in the events that inspired it. You guessed it: the song is about Azealia Banks.

On Grimes' Discord server, the artist invoked her nemesis's name, explaining that her latest track "is about having to defeat Azealia Banks when she tried to destroy my life."

While Grimes has yet to confirm the incident she's referring to, she's most likely pointing to that time she allegedly stood Banks up at Elon Musk's house when the two songstresses were meant to meet up to collaborate.

For the uninitiated, the event would lead to Tesla investors subpoenaing Banks and Grimes to "refrain from destroying certain documents, messages, and other potential evidence," after Musk became tied up in a class-action lawsuit for making false and misleading statements about his company's financial dealings on Twitter.

According to the 2018 lawsuit, Banks was present in Musk's home in Los Angeles while he was "dealing with the fallout from the tweet and likely observed relevant events in addition to those described in the media."

Responding to her own diss track, Banks took to Instagram this weekend to say that she thinks Claire Boucher "def has some psychosexual obsession with me."

Banks added: "I think it's bitterness cuz she doesn't have the musical capacity I have. everything she does is out of pretentiousness and it comes out like that… while everything I do is out of natural swag & geniusness lmaoo."
