After last week's shocking breakup announcement (which probably spurred the current Mercury retrograde somehow), Canadian vanguard Grimes has spoken out about her split from oft-defended boyfriend and one-time SNL host Elon Musk.
Following her revelations that her new album is going to be a space opera about lesbian AI romance and current stint as a judge on CGI signing contest Alter Ego, Grimes' post-breakup plans aren't exactly surprising.
"I'll be colonizing [one of Jupiter's moons] Europa separately from Elon for the lesbian space commune," the artist born Claire Boucher told Page Six.
Billionaire Musk and his SpaceX company are currently on contract with NASA to help them reach that particular moon of Jupiter's 79, so it's safe to say Grimes isn't too eager to get away from him; just earth, really. (Though she did recently ask President Biden for a green card at the Met Gala). She's previously iterated — multiple times — that she wants to die on Mars, where her ex is trying to support human life by 2026.
Last week, Musk spoke to the same publication about the couple's decision to take some space after three years together.
"We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms; it's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or travelling overseas and [Boucher's] work is primarily in LA. She's staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room," he explained, referring to the pair's one-year-old son — who is already making "super fire" music, apparently.
Of course they're taking some space. Has anybody ever loved space more than these two? At least it sounds like they're willing to share it — on this planet and elsewhere.
Upon Friday's (September 24) announcement of Grimes and Musk's breakup, Twitter had a field day with reaction memes.
