There are always plenty of outrageous outfits at the Met Gala, but Canadian pop provocateur Grimes went all-out this year by showing up to the carpet carrying an enormous sword made from a melted-down AR-15 automatic rifle.

She told Vogue that her futuristic look was based on Dune. As for that huge sword, it was created by MSCHF, a company that turns guns into swords. The sword was apparently very heavy but not very sharp.

Grimes said, "It's from these people who are getting people's [guns] who don't want to have their automatic rifles anymore, and are melting them down and making them perfect replicas of medieval swords, which I think is just so cool — I think it's a beautiful thing." She noted that it's based on a western European sword dating back to around the year 1400.

In a red carpet interview with actor/comedian Ilana Glazer, Grimes spoke about her love of America, saying, "Everyone who cares about art comes here and all the best art in the world is here." She finished by saying, "Please let me have a green card, President Biden."
