It's been a year of expansion for the Oxford, MS label Fat Possum. After releasing a critically acclaimed album from Andrew Bird, and working towards the upcoming hype beast that will be WAVVES' second album, the label, which was previously strictly blues-based, has announced a licensing deal with soul imprint Hi Records.
The first fruit of the partnership will appear on March 31, with three Al Green reissues: I'm Still In Love With You, Let's Stay Together and Greatest Hits. In a statement, Fat Possum head honcho Matthew Johnson said, "We are planning on reissuing the entire catalog. The greatest hits are already up on iTunes, and we'll be rolling out the rest of the releases soon. This is huge for us."
