Elvis Costello has returned with a new song. Titled "No Flag," it arrives alongside a lyric video that you can follow along with below.
As a press release explains, Costello recorded the song in Helsinki, Finland, this past February after taking a solo trip to the Finnish capital because he "wanted to go somewhere nobody knew me."
Costello worked for three days at Suomenlinnan Studio, a recording facility a 20-minute ferry ride from downtown Helsinki. "No Flag" was recorded by Eetu Seppälä and Tim Mikkkola, and mixed by Sebastian Krys in Los Angeles.
Costello is the lone artist credited on the single, for "mouth, drum, Fender Jazzmaster, Hammond organ and bass." The press release hints that something else from Costello will be arriving July 10.
The accompanying lyric video was created by Eamon Singer and Arlo O'Furlow. Costello's last studio album was 2018's Look Now, with backing band the Imposters.
