What can be said about DJ Khaled — rapper, producer, Snapchatter, intrepid jet ski explorer, pop-cultural icon — that hasn't already been said? Perhaps it's that he's now become renowned across the expanses of the internet for his guitar stylings.
Okay, so a musician playing guitar isn't exactly breaking news, but hear us out: this is seemingly Khaled's debut performance on the six-string, for reasons that will make themselves known imminently.
In a new video clip, the DJ plays a special Guild Guitars model made in collaboration with the Bob Marley family — the Guild A-20 Marley signature acoustic. It was gifted to Khaled "as someone who has an appreciation for Bob Marley's life and music," we're told in the dedication read off the top of the video.
He proceeds to give an unforgettable performance that demonstrates the breadth of what the instrument can do, albeit somewhat unconventionally.
Ever the innovator, Khaled plays a little ditty that definitely has more slapping involved than most. (Side note: maybe he should consider trying his hand at the bass?) His signature nonexistent sense of irony is out in full force as he jams his heart out like he's playing a high school coffeehouse. What an inspiration.
Behold the We the Best Music founder being the best music below.
