Death Waltz to Release Nico Fidenco's 'Zombi Holocaust' Score

Having recently delivered a pressing of Riz Ortolani's Cannibal Holocaust score and a reissue of Fabio Frizzi's work on Zombi 2, movie music imprint Death Waltz has announced a most logical next step. Going on sale later this week is a vinyl pressing behind early '80s Italian gore flick, Zombi Holocaust.

A press release confirms that the first-ever vinyl pressing of Nico Fidenco's score to Marino Girolami's low-budget horror flick will be up for grabs as a double LP come Wednesday (August 19). Much of the music had previously appeared on CD releases, but this vinyl edition comes with an additional 13 unreleased cues.

In a statement, Death Waltz's Spencer Hickman described the release as "one of [his] favourite Italian scores ever." Fidenco's compositions are said to veer from "electrifying proto-electro" and disco, to island-vibe calypso and a few more psychedelic passages.

Down below, you'll find a sampling of sounds from the score, including the psychotically pulsating "Fascinating Horror" and the decidedly lovelier, bongo-driven "Make Love on the Wing."

The couloured vinyl package is limited to 500 copies and features newly delivered artwork from Corlen Kruger, which displays the decapitating of the undead.

Inside the gatefold sleeve will be two different slabs of vinyl, with one pressed onto "red & blue swirl with green, grey & clear splatter," and the other on "green & blue swirl with red, brown & clear splatter."
