There's not much info to chew on just yet, but Death Waltz Recording Company and One Way Static have announced they are teaming up to deliver the first-ever vinyl pressing of Riz Ortolani's score to controversial Italian gore flick, Cannibal Holocaust.
While specifics on the release have yet to arrive, Death Waltz confirmed over Instagram that the soundtrack arrives October 31 as a joint release between the two labels. One Way Static backed this up on its end via a post on Twitter.
Neither a tracklisting nor the cover art has been unveiled just yet, but the set will showcase Ortolani's score to Ruggero Deodato's wildly controversial 1980 film, whose plot centred on a film crew making a documentary about cannibalistic indigenous tribes in the Amazonian rainforest. The gritty quality of the movie and its various portrayals of graphic violence, sexual assaults and cruelty to animals led many to question whether it was in fact a snuff film. Following Deodato's arrest on obscenity and murder charges, the allegations were disproved.
Down below, you'll hear Ortolani's haunting and folky, guitar- and synth-based theme song. Sadly, Ortolani passed away earlier this year at the age of 87.

UPDATE: This release has unfortunately been delayed until February 2015. Mondo will also now be handling the North American release, while Death Waltz/One Way Static will put out the record in Europe.
