As previously reported, longtime partners Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips have teamed up again to deliver new tunes for director Noah Baumbach's upcoming Mistress America. A trailer had previously hinted at some of their synth-based pieces, but you can now sample a trio of tracks before the film's August 14 release.
The New Order-styled instrumental "Mistress America" was teased in the trailer, and is rife with shimmering synth work, a steadfast kick drum and Peter Hook-influenced bass melodies. Equally uplifting are "Tracy & Tony," whose title refers to the film's pair of soon-to-be sisters-in-law, and "Tracy in New York."
The full soundtrack release arrives August 14 via Milan Records, and comes equipped with other tracks from Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Paul McCartney and Suicide. In the meantime, you can sample Wareham and Phillips' material down below, courtesy of Indiewire.
