Cheap Time Announce New 'Exit Smiles' LP

Nashville garage rock outfit Cheap Time have kept up a steady output in recent years, releasing a string of albums, 7-inches and a rarities compilation. They will be keeping up their campaign this fall by releasing their fourth album, Exit Smiles, due out on November 26 through In the Red Records.

The album was produced by band leader Jeffrey Novak at his home studio, and it apparently finds the band expanding their sound and production style. It features newcomer Jessica McFarland on bass and backup vocals, plus returning drummer Ryan Sweeney.

A press release calls this "the classic punk album for 2013" and points to sonic touchstones like John Cale, Peter Hammill (Van der Graaf Generator), Sparks and Alice Cooper. Its sounds reportedly range from "art-rock stompers" to "more progressive material," while the album-opening title track is said to be "abrasive."

Exit Smiles includes the track "Kill the Light" from Adult Swim's Garage Swim compilation. Hear that tune below.
