Turnstile have somehow managed to become megastars in the two years since dropping Glow On, and they've entered that weird echelon of your-parents-saw-them-on-late-night-TV level fame that isn't often (ie. never) granted to hardcore bands.
It's also the level of fame that lets you collaborate with pretty much whoever you want, and Turnstile's list must've included BADBADNOTGOOD. The two acts have come together to share New Heart Designs, a surprise EP featuring new versions of three Glow On tracks — "Mystery," "Alien Love Call," and "Underwater Boi" — that have been completely reimagined by BADBADNOTGOOD.
Turnstile have been challenging people's ideas of what hardcore should sound like for a while, so this move makes more sense than it might seem to on the surface. The new songs sound very much like BADBADGOOD tracks (which I suppose was the point) but Brendan Yates' keening voice is still very much intact.
The new EP comes attached to a 10-minute video featuring all three tracks, filmed and edited by Alex Henery. Check it out below.
