Azealia Banks gets into so many beefs and talks such overwhelming amounts of (often funny, always offensive, sometimes correct) shit about her fellow artists that it's really not worth reporting on. However, a new spat with the 1975's Matty Healy has escalated to threats of physical violence, and now Banks is claiming that she plans to sue.
"Talk to me like that I'm not gonna side eye you at an awards show do I'll fucking slap you so hard I'll get a Guinness world record for the highest a rat some bitch calls a wig has ever flown," Healy tweeted today (December 4) after a rapidly escalating and particularly nasty spat with Banks on Twitter.
The comment was made in defence of Healy's wife, model Gabriette, who was caught up in the firestorm (by Healy's own fault, it seems, having brought her name up randomly) after the frontman called out Banks for her tweets about Charli XCX, talking shit and/or giving career advice (however you choose to see it).
This isn't new territory for Banks, who's been popping off about Charli and the success of BRAT for a few months now, consistently taking to Twitter to insult and advise Charli on her music, her look, her choice of collaborators and her fanbase.
This inflamed beef between Banks and Healy really got going back in November, after the rapper criticized Charli's Saturday Night Live performance of "360," stating that the song ripped off Ciara's "1, 2, Step." Healy responded by saying, "Shut up you fucking prat."
Banks never replied to that, but Healy took another go at her on Tuesday night after Banks said Charli "used to be" pretty, among many other things.
"Azealia you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to your 'reads,'" Healy wrote. "All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people. I think this makes you jealous cos you're so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro."
Healy then dared anyone to speak about his wife in the same way Banks spoke about Charli (always a bizarre move), and so Banks did just that.
"You both look like you share needles," she wrote, continuing with, "What type of pussy ass n— goes online and incriminates himself this way? Lmfao a man could slap the shit out of Gabi and you wouldn't do a damn thing. You're too busy kissing men on stage for clout."
It was after this that Healy threatened to slap Banks, though he quickly walked it back, tweeting, "Nah fr I was just trying to match your vibe im scared now im sorry bro, i was just sticking up for my mates. Im not tough."
"Nah I can't be saying I'm gonna hit a girl that's insane I'm sorry," Healy wrote in another post. "You just can't keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it's really hurtful gets me well defensive."
Banks didn't take this quasi-apology, writing back: "Fuck your mates honestly. This is like the third time you've come out of your face spewing violence specifically towards black women. Brutalized porn, Ice Spice, now you're threatening to slap me and think a small apology will suffice."
Listen, this thing goes on and on, and it doesn't really get better. Healy deleted all of his posts and attempted to apologize to Banks both privately and publicly, but Banks doubled down on her threat to sue, writing that, "AZEALIA BANKS WILL BE ATTACHED TO THE 1975'S SEO FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. he's been in my DM apologizing and begging me not to sue but I'm fucking tired. And people are gonna learn some fucking respect."
She also made some really unfortunate remarks about the country of Thailand and its people.
