Angie McMahon Announces Sophomore Album 'Light, Dark, Light Again'

It's the follow-up to 2019's 'Salt'

Australian singer-songwriter Angie McMahon has announced the forthcoming release of her sophomore effort, previewed today by new single "Letting Go."

Light, Dark, Light Again arrives October 27 via AWAL. It follows her 2019 debut, Salt, and features previously released single "Saturn Returning."

Co-produced by McMahon and Brad Cook, the album was recorded between Melbourne and Regional Victoria, as well as Durham, NC. Canadian singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk played in the studio band alongside Bon Iver drummer Matt McCaughan and Phil Cook.

"'Letting Go' is a place to keep the lessons that I'll keep on needing," McMahon said of the rollicking new single. "Reminders to go easy and gentle, be imperfect, let things leave. The learning is never-ending. I'm always in the process of remembering to release what my brain clings to — thoughts, people, safe zones — and land in the present moment. It's so hard for me to do, and then such a euphoric relief when it happens, so that's what we tried to capture in the recording. I hope someone screams 'Letting Go' in the car on an open road somewhere."
