Asthmatic Kitty label pals Angelo De Augustine and Sufjan Stevens have teamed up for another new single for the former's catalogue. Today, the pair release "Blue" alongside a new video.
For the track, De Augustine handles guitar — steel, nylon and high strung — and vocals, while Stevens contributes piano, electric guitar, synths and backup vocals.
"'Blue' speaks of an admission in confidence to a friend," De Augustine said of the track. "The eternal and symbiotic bond of mother and child, and an inquisition into our inner pain, investigating if we are forever bound by it."
Previously, the pair had linked up on De Augustine's "Santa Barbara." Both songs will appear on a limited-edition "water-bottle-blue" 7-inch single, available for pre-order through AKR. The artist's latest follows his 2019 full-length, Tomb.
Meanwhile, Stevens is fresh off the release of his own solo record, The Ascension, also through Asthmatic Kitty. Read Exclaim!'s recent interview with him.
