Sufjan Stevens Produced John Legend's New Album

'My Favorite Dream' arrives August 30

John Legend has announced a new album of sing-alongs and lullabies for children and families. My Favorite Dream arrives via Republic Records: Kids & Family on August 30, and it was produced by the one and only Sufjan Stevens.

It's been a relatively quiet period for Stevens, whose last album, Javelin, arrived alongside some sad news: the passing of his longtime partner Evans Richardson, plus Stevens's Guillain–Barré syndrome diagnosis. Though his various projects continue to gain traction, the musician himself has remained relatively quiet since last year.

In a statement, Legend praised Stevens's "sense of whimsy, adventure and dreaminess. I just felt his musical approach would be perfect for building arrangements and soundscapes to complement the songs. When I was thinking about who could bring these songs to life with me, he was the first and only choice. I'm so glad he said 'yes.'"

The album also features contributions from Legend's wife (Chrissy Teigen) and two oldest children (Luna and Miles Stephens) on backing vocals. Today, the album is previewed by lead single "L-O-V-E," which features all three. Listen to that below, where you can also find the album's tracklist.
