Sufjan Stevens's 'Silver & Gold' Treated to Vinyl Box Set Reissue

Merry Christmas!

Last year, Christmas came early with an official Sufjan Stevens Christmas yule log video, and this year, it might be coming even earlier with the singer-songwriter's label Asthmatic Kitty teasing what appears to be the long-sought-after official vinyl box set reissue of Silver & Gold.

UPDATE (9/5, 2:28 p.m. ET): Asthmatic Kitty has now officially announced the Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols. 6-10 LP box set arriving on November 1, with pre-orders ongoing. The set compiles the five EPs into a 6LP collection, and includes a songbook, colouring book and poster, plus paper ornaments, temporary tattoos and stickers, and a Christmas essay by Stevens himself. Check it out below.

Previously available as a CD box set, the five-EP collection was originally released together back in 2012 as a follow-up to 2006's Songs for Christmas, a similarly lengthy comp of holiday tunes. Now, judging by a teaser post from AK, it appears to be heading back to vinyl.

The above image shows what appears to be the hefty-weight cardstock corner of Silver & Gold's album art. Paired with some very Sufjan emojis and this Thursday, September 5's date in numerical form, it's a pretty safe guess that we'll be ringing in the giving season before we even make it to Halloween.

Not much else in the way of details here, folks. You'll just have to tune in to find out what presents await us later this week. For now, you can reacquaint yourself with the 58-song collection below.
