Amon Amarth Announce Canada-Heavy North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 18, 2011

This spring, long-running Norse metal outfit Amon Amarth released their latest crushing full-length, Surtur Rising. Over here at Exclaim!, we applauded the album's "delicious harshness that, nevertheless, shelters a steady melodic vein." The band then went on a quick North American tour, which found the Swedish act playing back-to-back sets instead of bring along an opening act. Clearly the formula worked for the troupe, as they have announced a second leg of their "An Evening With Amon Amarth Tour," which includes a string of Canadian dates.

The band will be coming back to North America this August and will start the tour with a cross-Canada trek. Kicking things off at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom, the metalheads will make their way out to Quebec City before heading down to the United States. Each night will see the act plough through Surtur Rising before blasting out the oldies, as well as some "wild cards."
