Goth-pop singer Allie X has released a new single from her forthcoming record Cape God. The track is called "Devil I Know," and you can of course hear it now.
According to the artist, the song is about dealing with a toxic relationship.
"The lyrics to 'Devil I Know' follow my inner dialogue as I address my abuser directly," Allie X said in a press release. "What the listener realizes as the song goes on, is that I am actually singing to myself as the perpetrator, inflicting all my own suffering. 'I could scream somebody help me out. But the wicked one is me.' This is a song about your own inner demons, how difficult it is to quiet them, and how easy it is to stay embraced in their arms."
"Devil I Know" follows the release of "Love Me Wrong" featuring Troye Sivan.
Cape God — one of Exclaim!'s 31 Most Anticipated Canadian Albums of 2020 — arrives February 21. You can pre-order the record here.
Allie X embarks on a North American tour this March. See those dates here.
