After having its Toronto premiere at the Canadian Film Festival earlier this year, Canadian writer and director Adrian Murray's second feature film, Retrograde, now has its own trailer.
Produced by Murray alongside Sennah Yee and Priscilla Galvez, the film stars Molly Reisman, who plays Molly, a 20-something Toronto woman, who, when issued a minor traffic citation after a jarring encounter with a police officer, becomes determined to get the ticket dismissed.
A synopsis fleshes out the story: "When her housemate refuses to testify as a witness, Molly's pursuit escalates into a self-destructive obsession that threatens her job, her friends, and her morality. Disquieting and intimate, Retrograde explores truth, power, and accountability through a dryly comic lens."
Exclaim! Film Editor Rachel Ho writes in her 8/10 review of the movie, "Across the board, the performances have a deliberate, blundering quality that works really well within the film's atmosphere. Leading the small ensemble is Reisman, who is positively exquisite in making us hate and love her all at once."
The film also stars Murray, Sofia Banzhaf, Bessie Cheng, Meelad Moaphi, Erik Anderson, Dean Tardioli, Meredith Heinrich, Peter Frangella and Joanne Steven.
The film is due to have its theatrical release on May 19 in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa, as well as other smaller markets.
