The long-anticipated prequel film to HBO's classic series The Sopranos is finally on its way this fall through HBO Max, and to get you excited for the return of Tony Soprano, today, series creator David Chase has a new trailer for The Many Saints of Newark.

With Michael Gandolfini — the son of the late, great James Gandolfini — playing the younger version of Tony Soprano, the flick will also star Alessandro Nivola, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Michela De Rossi, Ray Liotta and Vera Farmiga.

Here's a synopsis for the forthcoming mob flick:

Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark's history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family's hold over the increasingly race-torn city.

Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities — and whose influence over his impressionable nephew will help make the teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we'll later come to know: Tony Soprano.

The film was written by Chase alongside Lawrence Konner, also from The Sopranos. The Many Saints of Newark was directed by Alan Taylor.

The film will head to theatres and HBO Max on October 1.
