How dare they.

Hulu has dropped the first trailer for Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building, the beloved wholesome whodunnit series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez ahead of its August 8 premiere date.

That sounds like good news, right? Wrong. Within seconds, Paul Rudd — er, his character Ben, who was introduced in the series' second season — drops dead on stage during the opening night of Oliver's (Short) play.

Of course, the trio of podcasting super-sleuths suspect foul play. And realistically, there's no other way; that man doesn't age. One of the prime suspects is occasional Broken Social Scene member Meryl Streep, who Martin revealed had joined the cast back in January. She plays Charles (Martin) and Ben's co-star, Loretta, who delivers the table read of a lifetime.

Also appearing in this star-studded season of Only Murders in the Building are Ashley Park, Matthew Broderick, Jane Lynch and Tina Fey.
