It's time to either end your hunger strike or plan to starve forever. Despite the extreme public outcry, Netflix will not be renewing The OA. In fact, the streamer will not even dignify the show's death with a concluding movie.
Last year, the service allowed Sense8 to tie up its loose ends with a two-hour concluding film. But this won't be the case with The OA. The news was confirmed via Variety.
The show had initially been booked for five seasons before being cancelled earlier this year. As such, a two-hour finale may not be enough to explain the show's incredibly confusing sci-fi plotline.
According to Variety, creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij met with Netflix to discuss the possibility of a concluding film, but the idea was ultimately shelved.
Making things even worse for the show's passionate fans, the series was produced by Netflix, with no other production company on board. Because of that, there's no possibility of another network picking up the series.
As previously reported, fans across America have been protesting the show's cancellation. Watch a flashmob and view a billboard in Times Square below.
