Lido Pimienta is launching her very own variety show, LIDO TV, and she's shared a trailer for the show, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September before streaming on CBC Gem.
The trailer features Nelly Furtado, who leads a singalong of "A is for apple / B is for baby / C is for colonialism." A synopsis describes LIDO TV as "a funny and insightful variety show that explores the themes of colonialism, beauty, and feminism."
Pimienta is the creator of LIDO TV, and she and Sean O'Neill serve as showrunners. It's directed by Maya Annik Bedward and Alicia K. Harris. TIFF lists it as 58 minutes in length.
