Swedish metal band Ghost may have won the Favorite Rock Album award for Impera at the American Music Awards (AMAs) this weekend, but that didn't stop them from living up to their phantasmic name and prompting a case of mistaken identity for the ceremony's organizers.
A Ghost fan on Reddit spotted an apparition in a press photo of the AMAs' assigned seats at the Microsoft Theater: the section attributed to the band included was affixed with a photo of Los Angeles trap rock outfit, Love Ghost.
Bandleader Tobias Forge did attend the awards, flying in all the way from Europe — and fans are accusing the AMAs of disrespecting him and the band. Their win wasn't televised, and even photographers on the red carpet didn't seem to have been told who Forge was, calling him "Mr. Ghost." Close enough?

While many were outraged at the alleged improper treatment from the organizers, much of the Ghost fanbase seems to have at least delighted in the new nickname for the bandleader and the photos the "Mr. Ghost" beckoning resulted in.
Award shows remain mostly unremarkable, but this surprise exclamation wasn't the only booing at the AMAs.
