Woolworm Announce 'Deserve to Die' LP, Premiere New Single

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 19, 2017

Woolworm delivered back-to-back EPs in 2015 with Everything Seems Obvious and Vampirism, and now they're ready to unleash their latest full-length Deserve to Die. The LP will land on August 25 via Mint Records.

Forged in the heart of Vancouver's hardcore scene, the four-piece have no qualms with incorporating peppier pop influences into their sound.

To capitalize on those sleeker sounding tendencies, the group recorded the new album at Rain City Recorders with Jesse Gander — an experience frontman Giles Roy summed up by saying, "It was our first time recording in a studio with a Wikipedia entry."

Elaborating on the inspiration behind the songs themselves, Roy says, "The songs are about loss, regret, alienation and acceptance. And death."

It's not all totally doom and gloom though, as hummable melodies help buoy the weight of the heavy themes. In other words, "You'll find yourself singing along in the sunshine, then you'll contemplate the tragedy that is human existence as the leaves begin to turn."
