Last year, Barry Jenkins got together with OG Ron C, DJ Candlestick and the Chopstars to remix the soundtrack from If Beale Street Could Talk, and it appears the director is responsible for the latest entry the screw music masters' catalogue: Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
Mixed by DJ Candlestick, the "chopped not slopped" version of Wilco's iconic fourth album — accordingly dubbed Yankee Purple Foxtrot — can be heard in its entirety below. As you'll find above, its sepia-toned artwork has also been screwed up for the occasion.
"NOBODY asked for this," Jenkins admitted on Twitter, "BUT... in a world where Jeff Tweedy and the boyz was from Houston, TX...Some Americana for the timeline given recent events. The #YeehawAgenda is alive and well."
Recently, Wilco treated third album Summerteeth to an expanded reissue, while Tweedy shared solo album Love Is the King. Guitarist Nels Cline will release new album Share the Wealth with Nels Cline Singers later this week.
