WIENER KEBAB's sophomore EP No One Makes It Out Alive is hard to pin down — and that's where its beauty lies. No two songs on the record sound the same, nor do they resemble the group's 2022 debut effort Supersour, which was more accented by rock influences. Best described by the band themselves as experimental punk, No One Makes It Out Alive also tips its cap to country, hardcore and even jazz in moments.

The eclectic blend of genres is on full display in standout track "Julio," which begins as a jangly, swing-tinged storytelling exercise and quickly evolves into a heavy parade of crushing guitar, frantic drums and furious vocals. It doesn't stop there, either — "Bolero," "Breaking Into Prison" and "Death of the Cowboy" all keep listeners on their toes just the same.

On an EP that could just as easily soundtrack a spaghetti western as it could kickstart a nationwide punk phase, Toronto live music stalwarts WIENER KEBAB stake their claim as one of the city's most daring young bands.
