We Are the City Announce 'Violent'

We Are the City Announce 'Violent'
Late last year, prog-flavoured indie rock unit We Are the City promised their "most definitive work yet" would drop in 2013 on a new LP, and the BC band are now ready to let those songs out into the world. The album is called Violent, and Hidden Pony Records will have it at retailers June 4.

As previously reported, the album, which follows 2009's In a Quiet World and 2011's High School EP, was recorded with Tom Dobrzanski (Said the Whale, the Zolas, Hey Ocean!) at Monarch studios in Vancouver, and features tunes the band have been working on over the last few years.

The song were originally worked on in a condemned home they dubbed "Magic House," and the group documented the journey with a series of webisodes which you can watch over here. The band is also sending out a link to a 20-minute documentary on the making of Violent for the price of an email address over here.

The 10-song set is said to feature "noise-soaked crescendos and delicate pop melodies," with tracks like "King David" featuring gentle acoustic passages and penultimate number "Baptism" apparently featuring a "thunderous end." You can get the tracklisting down below, where you'll also find an album trailer.

We Are the City are heading out for some U.S. dates with fellow BC band Hey Ocean! this month, and you can check out the schedule down below. A Canadian tour, meanwhile, is expected to take place around the time Violent drops in June.
