Venus Fest — Toronto's foremost music organization celebrating genre- and gender-diverse artists — has returned with plans for its seventh edition, taking place at OK* Studios from September 21 to 23.
The event will be headlined by recent Exclaim! cover star Allison Russell, as well as Oakland's legendary Shannon and the Clams and Grammy-nominated Georgia Anne Muldrow.
The lineup will be fleshed out by Canadian talents, including Toronto's own Big Gay Night mastermind CJ Wiley, 2023 festival season must-see Sister Ray, and Louie Sanchez (who touts the title of the country's possibly only queer Filipinx country artist). Doom-soul artist Ladan also joins the party, in addition to Scarlett Rose and Deidre.
ASL music interpretation will be provided by Phoenix the Fire, a "theatre community hub for IBPOC deaf artists." Venus Fest will additionally host the Festival Restorative Zone for anyone who needs a sensory break or "moment's pause."
The event will, of course, also feature work from visual artists, including creative director Yung Guava, textile artist Mifi Mifi and Anishinaabe-Ojibway visual artist Cedar-Eve.
Single-day tickets are available for $20 in advance now — they'll cost you $25 at the door — while advance three-day wristbands are available for $40, or $45 at the door. Get yours here.
