Energy Slime — the DIY pop duo of Vancouver-based spouses Jay Arner and Jessica Delisle — have announced their debut album, led by new single "Magic Wand."

Planet Perfect is due August 9 via We Are Time. It follows the pair's 2014 7-inch release, New Dimensional, as well as Arner's three eponymous solo records. Press notes describe Planet Perfect as "an audiophile's amusement park," citing Arner's experience producing and engineering for bands like Apollo Ghosts and White Poppy over the past decade-plus.

The couple recorded the album in their studio apartment amid lockdowns and personal loss, seeking comfort in the soundscape universe they've created together. Rendering that world visually came by way of Philip Hood, who worked with Energy Slime to depict Planet Perfect's sonic topography on the album artwork.

A euphoric synth bop, the lead single "Magic Wand" arrives alongside a video — starring Aaron Read — directed by Delisle. "Jay has wanted to make a music video where we go to hell for as long as I can remember," she explained in a statement. "It was a fun challenge to turn our tiny studio apartment into a hell set — complete with a stalactite on our ceiling. We executed this very ambitious video almost entirely with props and materials we already owned or made."
