Van Halen Postpone More Than 30 North American Dates

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 17, 2012

While Van Halen are currently out on the road promoting their A Different Kind of Truth album, the classic rock troupe have unexpectedly pulled out of more than 30 upcoming concerts running from July to September. The news came via the group's website, which has now scrubbed the shows in question off their schedule.

An explanation hasn't been given by the band, but after wrapping up some dates in June, Van Halen are apparently taking a sabbatical. While the bulk of the dates take place in the U.S., Canadian fans hoping to catch the group at London, ON's John Labatt Centre on July 21 are no doubt going to be disappointed by the news.

Reports say that promoters were caught off-guard by the decision, with some feeling confused since ticket sales were steady.

"It's selling pretty good -- I don't know why they would say it's being cancelled," a source at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, where Van Halen were to play on July 7, told Rolling Stone.

Details on rescheduled dates and refunds have yet to be delivered, but you can see the newly tweaked itinerary down below.

UPDATE: According to TMZ, a sources close to the band said, Van Halen felt like the current schedule was "too much, too fast" and they were "losing their focus," adding "They're simply burned out... They want to make sure their concerts are not a routine ... they want every performance to be special."
