The first of many Astroworld lawsuits sent Travis Scott's way has reached a settlement.
The family of Alex Acosta, a 21-year-old who died at the festival, settled out of court after suing Scott, Live Nation and others. Tony Buzbee, the family's attorney, told TMZ that Acosta died from injuries he sustained at the festival, and that he had travelled all the way from Washington to Houston to be there.
While the payout amount has not been released as the settlement terms are confidential, Buzbee says that Acosta's family wants him to be remembered as a "beloved son, brother and student" who was also "kind and loving" and is "greatly missed."
Ten people died and dozens of others were injured at Astroworld last November as crowds surged toward the stage during Scott's performance. There are more lawsuits related to the incident that have yet to be settled or taken to court.
Since the tragedy, Scott has started an Event Safety Initiative.
