Odd Future offshoot the Internet have pulled back the curtain on their upcoming fourth studio album. The full-length is called Hive Mind, and it is set for release on July 20.
The announcement was made while the group were on Sway in the Morning yesterday (May 17), with host Sway Calloway breaking the news with the group. The album will mark the Internet's first proper full-length effort since 2015's Ego Death.
During the interview, the Internet's Matt Martians shed some light on that title of Hive Mind, saying, "If you Google what 'hive mind' means, it's basically a collective ego, a collective mind. You know, when people are together they have a collective mindset. And I think when we're together we all have a common goal, and we move in the same direction."
The group's Steve Lacy added of the new album, "I think it's just sharpened. If Ego Death was a pencil, it was like a good pencil.... It was a bit dull, but I'd say this pencil's really sharp, and we're gonna draw nice."
