The Dirty Nil are set to release the follow-up to their 2016 debut Higher Power. Titled Master Volume, the new LP is due out on September 14 via Dine Alone.

The first taste of the Hamilton band's sophomore record arrives with a new track titled "Bathed in Light."

Speaking to Billboard, frontman Luke Bentham explained the origin of the song.

"On tour in England, I kept napping in the back seat of the sprinter," he said. "One dream, involving a fiery roundabout death, shocked me to consciousness and put me in jittery mood. I wrote down some nonsense on the back of a guitar string package and put a stomper of a riff to it at soundcheck."

The track hears Bentham confronting his death dream and embracing an afterlife where he gets to hang out with Jesus and Elvis.

Following Higher Power, the Dirty Nil also released a compilation of their early works called Minimum R&B last year.
