The 1975 have confirmed plans for their fifth studio album with Dirty Hit in their signature cryptic style: a new colour palette (navy blue this time) and a new poster, spotted in London, displaying the date July 7. In a press release, the date was confirmed as "significant" in the lead-up to album five.

The poster — also displayed on the band's website, where fans can sign up for album updates — shows an elongated Matty Healy with the words "la poésie est dans la rue" (translated as "the poetry is in the streets") faintly sprawled across his jacket.

Fans might be familiar with this phrase as a recurring motif in the 1975's videos and lyrics, from visual moments in "Chocolate" and "The City" to Healy's impassioned delivery in "Love It If We Made It." As a nod to their beatnik influences, the words have become a refrain in the band's music announcements.

Along with the rebranding comes a post to their official social media accounts, captioned, "Your new album. Your new era. Your old friends. The 1975." This announcement marks the end of a hiatus following their "Music for Cars" era, which included 2018's A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and 2020's Notes on a Conditional Form.

With July 7 just around the corner, the 1975 will also perform for the first time in two years at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan this August.
