Tad's 'Infrared Riding Hood' Treated to Vinyl Reissue

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 28, 2015

Timing up nicely with the upcoming release of Tad Doyle's debut full-length with Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, the musician's old, eponymous grunge band are about to reissue their final LP, Infrared Riding Hood.

Originally issued back in 1995 via EastWest, the 12-song LP will be put back into print by Music on Vinyl on February 16. The album, Tad's fifth overall, was produced by iconic Washington State producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney). The producer had also worked with the band on 1989's God's Balls.

A press release explains that Tad's A&R person at EastWest was fired shortly after the album's release, leading to the group being dropped from the imprint and to Infrared Riding Hood never receiving much in the way of promotion. Despite a lack in album sales, the set is apparently "regarded as Tad's best work. "

OG vinyl copies of the final Tad LP on Discogs are selling between $75 and $350, meaning the upcoming Music on Vinyl repress actually puts the record at a reasonable price point. The first 1,000 copies come on "blue marbled vinyl."

Down below, you'll find a video for "Dementia" that finds Doyle taking on the role of a harp-plucking angel and also features a cameo from Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.

As for Doyle's current-day activities, his Brothers of the Sonic Cloth will deliver their self-titled debut on February 17 through Neurot Recordings.
