Solange Teases Collaboration with Dirty Projectors' Dave Longstreth

R&B singer Solange Knowles is just about ready to kick off her new Saint Records imprint with the release of the Saint Heron compilation, but the artist has just given us a preview of her long-reported collaboration with Dirty Projectors' Dave Longstreth.

Earlier today (November 8), Knowles uploaded a pair of Instagram videos to tease the project. The first (see below) comes with the tag "Friday...me....and my piano chords....," and finds Solange staring into a studio speaker pumping out a series of airy piano sounds and soulful coos. A second clip (at the bottom of the page) adds a cut-up drum beat to the mix, and Knowles confirmed that it's indeed Longstreth serving up those "nasty nasty drums."

Back in 2012, Longstreth had told the Guardian that he was working on material with Knowles, noting: "We're buds. I'm making some beats for her. It's at a germinative state right now. She's very busy and it might not be her top priority to just put together an album."

It's unclear when we'll hear this particular song in full, but a new Solange track called "Cashed In" appears on Saint Heron, which drops next Tuesday (November 12). The collection also includes songs from the likes of Cassie, Kelela, Sampha and more.
