Slowdive

"Avalyn" (Live 2014)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 5, 2015

One year ago today (November 5), reunited shoegaze crew Slowdive played Portland's Crystal Ballroom. If that isn't enough of a mind-bender for you, consider this, then: 25 years ago today, the band issued their eponymous debut EP through Creation Records. To celebrate, they've unveiled a semi-recently recorded live version of the record's "Avalyn," which is streaming now.

It's unclear which show this was recorded at, but it was sometime during the band's 2014 reunion trip. As with the original, it's a hazy, hypnotic piece rife with watery guitar effects, slow-drip beats and moody vocals.

You can stream or download the recording below, while Slowdive mention: "We are currently working on releasing the entire live set from that tour as a collection, so look out for news of that soon."
