Last weekend, rapper Sean Price sadly and unexpectedly passed away. As we noted at the time, he had a mixtape called Songs in the Key of Price coming out on August 21 through Duck Down. Evidently the release will be going ahead as planned, since the track "Planet Apes" has now been unveiled.
Produced by PF Cuttin, the song sports a hypnotically grooving beat with fretless bass licks and a spy-movie synth motif. The real draw, of course, is Price's rapping, as the Heltah Skeltah/Boot Camp Clik/Random Axe MC shows off his chops with dense internal rhymes and tongue-twisting flow.
