Following a recent team-up with Mitski and Keaton Henson for Adult Swim's 2016 Singles Series, Ryan Hemsworth has collaborated with two of his Secret Songs cohorts in RYAN Playground and swim good now (f.k.a. swim good) for a new tune in "Holy," which arrives alongside a video.
Directed by Luke McCutcheon and Michael Yablonski, the clip plays on the idea of a generation of partiers growing older, with an elderly cast dressed in activewear waiting for the text to tell them to pull through the function.
"I wanted to see a grown-up version of the generation who lives for after-parties yet ends up bored, sitting on the couch on their phones," Hemsworth explained to Interview. "There's definitely a default Toronto aesthetic and mood for videos at this point, so we wanted to play with that."
He continued: "Sometimes you just do something or dress a way you're expected to—the video kind of imagines if you kept doing that for the rest of your life."
Hemsworth's last full-length was Alone For the First Time, which came in 2014. Watch the video for "Holy" in the player below.
