Before Rina Sawayama was known for her chart-topping 2020 debut album SAWAYAMA, the British-Japanese artist was a fairly recognizable fashion model with a budding film career. Now that she's staked her claim on the music industry, the artist is turning back to the world of cinema and landed a role in John Wick: Chapter 4.
As Deadline reports, the singer has been confirmed as a player in the upcoming fourth chapter of the Keanu Reeves-led action series, though her role in Chapter 4 is still being very much kept under wraps.
"I'm so glad to have Rina on board to make her feature film debut in John Wick: Chapter 4," director Chad Stahelski said of the casting choice. "She's an incredible talent who'll bring so much to the film."
The film is heading into production this summer in France, Germany and Japan, with Stahelski on board to direct and co-produce alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. Last we heard, the plan was to shoot John Wick 4 and 5 back-to-back, but as far as official release dates are concerned, things are still pretty up in the air after all those COVID delays.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will mark Sawayama's feature film debut. Previously, the singer appeared in Idris Elba and Gary Reich's Netflix comedy series Turn Up Charlie.
