Following the tragic passing of Dallas Good of the Sadies this week, Arcade Fire member Richard Reed Parry has shared a tribute to the late musician, revealing that he co-produced a new Sadies album, which is due out this spring.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, Parry said that he and Arcade Fire collaborator Pietro Amato (also of Bell Orchestre, the Luyas and Torngat) "spent a whole lot of joyful time with Dallas and the Sadies over the last year and a half, recording and producing their last record — which is coming out this spring."
He revealed, that he and Good had been gradually working on an album since meeting in 2008 in Dawson City, YT. He wrote, "We'd work for a weekend and then not see each other for six months, work for a couple more days then take another six month break, repeat. The working title of the album was The Watchtower — a nod to the fact that both of our life partners had been raised Jehovah's Witness. It's not finished but I'm going to go finish it now."
From Parry's post, it's not clear if The Watchtower is the same project as the final Sadies album, or if they are two entirely different albums.
UPDATE (2/19, 4:40 p.m. ET): In an Instagram Story, Parry confirmed that the new Sadies album and The Watchtower are two separate albums. He wrote, "We'd been chipping away at a duo album for many years now... Inspired by our mutual love of the Everly Brothers and Joe Meek, and jumping out into space from there... Can't wait for people to hear it."
News that Parry produced a new Sadies album doesn't come as a surprise. Earlier this year, the Sadies shared the Parry-produced single "Message to Belial," with hints that more material would follow.
