Singer-songwriter and performance artist Poppy has announced a new album Zig, out October 27 via Sumerian Records.
Zig was recorded with producer Ali Payami and longtime collaborative partner, songwriter Simon Wilcox.
Said to be her most self-reflective album yet, Zig marks a formative time in Poppy's life as she transitions further into womanhood, away from the teenage girl that first emerged into the public eye on YouTube in 2014. It sees her at the start and end of a relationship, a pandemic and major changes in her professional life.
The album is said to be genre-bending and reminiscent of '90s industrial with its mechanical beats and heavy rock riffs, drawing inspiration from Talking Heads, Blondie, Gary Numan, Bowie and DJ Blawan. It's the follow-up to 2021's Flux and is Poppy's fifth studio album.
To coincide with the album announcement, Poppy has shared the first taste of the album, "Knockoff," alongside a Le3ay-directed music video. Watch it below.
