Bon Iver main man Justin Vernon's Gayngs/Megafaun bandmate Phil Cook is about to release his debut solo album, Southland Mission, and it features a guest appearance from Vernon on the track "Ain't It Sweet." That song can be heard now, ahead of the album's September 11 release on Thirty Tigers.
"Ain't It Sweet" is a joyous country rock tune that's filled with chug-a-lugging guitars, honky tonk piano, backwoods fiddle and twangy licks. There are some lush harmonies, and Vernon's singing pops out in a couple of places, as he handles a call-and-response vocal part.
