Neurosis' Steve Von Till Announces New Solo LP

Before Bay Area-bred doombringers Neurosis bring us their next LP, the band's Steve Von Till will deliver a new solo album. Dubbed A Life Unto Itself, the record is expected to drop this May via Neurot Recordings.

The album will be Von Till's fourth solo effort, with a press release explaining that it brings the artist beyond the folk and Americana textures of his previous LPs. Said to be laden with "Celtic balladry, haunting folk songs, dark psychedelia and expansive Americana," A Life Unto Itself reportedly makes a larger sonic impact. The recordings are marked with vintage synths, orchestra strings, electric guitars and Von Till's "raspy whisper."

Though a tracklisting has yet to be unveiled, the singer-songwriter is said to detail "visions, memories, and self-reflection" throughout A Life Unto Itself. It'll be his first full-length solo album since 2008's A Grave is a Grim Horse.

As for Neurosis, it was recently reported that the band are currently putting work into their 11th full-length. Frontman Scott Kelly had said he'll be spending much of February at Von Till's Idaho home, with plans to record with the whole band throughout the year. An ETA has yet to be established.
