Murs

Wrongbar, Toronto ON March 9

CMW isn't exactly known for its musical diversity, so scoring an MC of Murs's calibre is a coup for both the fest and fans who packed into Wrongbar to see the former Living Legend. Murs was all smiles from the word go, even doing the splits mid-jump at the end of his first song. He worked through a solid set of fan favourites, including a spirited take on Common's "Used to Love H.E.R." while DJ Foundation let the beat drop. The California MC ended his set by bringing out three-piece punk-fushion crew Whole Wheat Bread to rock a couple of old-school hip-hop tracks including "Bust-a-Move." The set ended with "Walk Like an Egyptian," which Murs dedicated to the people of Egypt. Until you've seen a black guitarist, wearing a GBH T-shirt encouraging a crowd to mosh to the Bangles, you haven't lived.
