Los Angeles post-hardcore quintet Militarie Gun have announced the details of their debut album, shared alongside new single "Very High."
We'll start living Life Under the Gun on June 23 via Loma Vista. It follows the band's 2021 dual All Roads Lead to the Gun EPs, with album track "Big Disappointment" having been featured on the deluxe edition of that release.
Engineered by Taylor Young at the Pit Recording Studio, Life Under the Gun also includes recent single "Do It Faster." According to press materials, the LP sees the best parts of Militarie Gun's previous work turned up to the highest possible degree, with towering, catchy hooks that don't sacrifice the integral punk vigour of their sound.
"This is what I thought we sounded like all along [laughs]," vocalist Ian Shelton said in a press release. "It's always felt like a melody-forward band to me, but I think now we're finally achieving what I was always setting out to do."
Shelton added of the single, "'Very High' centres around the desire to escape the embarrassment of day to day life as much as possible. From the lyrics, to the video to the cover art of the album, it's about struggling with something no one else sees."
