Since he passed away back in 2006, it's somewhat surprising that soul legend James Brown hasn't been the subject of any major motion pictures. That'll all change, however, as an official biopic is now in the works.
According to Deadline, the film is being developed by Hollywood big-shot Brian Grazer, who is in negotiations with The Help director Tate Taylor to direct. Most interestingly, the film will also be produced by Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
In a press release, Jagger said, "It's a great honour to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown. He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life."
Tommie Rae Brown, the late singer's widow, added, "I am deeply honoured that Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer, two of my husband James Brown's favourite people, have entered into a partnership to bring his inspirational story to the big screen."
Stay tuned for more info on the film as it becomes available.
