As much as drummer Lars Ulrich hates the Internet, his fans must be feeling a lot of gratitude for the service today. After all, without the ability to click buttons and download music, Metallica fans wouldn't be able to hear the recently unearthed first recording session from the band.

The Metal Den have just got their hands on a rare, early demo recording from the band, which is said to be their earliest recording session ever. The six-song demo tape features early versions of songs that appeared on Kill 'Em All.

Rumour has it that the tape was recorded in former bassist Ron McGovney's garage in 1982. The line-up on the tape includes McGovney on bass and Dave Mustaine on lead guitar, along with Ulrich and James Hetfield. Rumour has it that Mustaine bullied McGovney into leaving by spilling beer all over his bass guitar.

An early demo of the track "Hit the Lights" can be heard below.
