Following last year's Bones of Things, Toronto power-pop combo Meligrove Band are winding down operations. They only have a couple more live gigs to go, and they've now just premiered a video for their song "Tortaruga."
The song doesn't have the kind of wistful tone you might expect out of a band's swan song. Rather, it's a giddy whirlwind of power-pop energy, and the video brings the playful mood to life by showing the band members amidst a rapidly changing palette of bright colours and vintage-style TV static. There's a Ramones tribute during the instrumental break, a brief parody of a zombie film, and the whole thing culminates in a balloon party. It was directed by Yoroku Saki and Darcy Rego.

Meligrove Band's upcoming show at Ontario's Riverfest Elora on Saturday (August 15) will be their second-last gig. The details of their farewell performance have yet to be announced.
